A "new" advantage in Redding are the great "post-bubble" home prices, which are sometimes less than half what they were. In Redding many nice 3BR 2BA homes are available for well under 200,000. Distressed pre-foreclosures and fixer up properties for much less than that. In my opinion the down side of Redding is the very hot summer climate, but otherwise this is a very nice place to consider retirement, especially for those who love the outdoor amenities you can find a short drive from Redding.
